Proverbs 8, Jesus As Wisdom - Devotional For Oct 4

The following is pretty interesting. It is taken from page 30 of Mastering The English Bible: The Gospels, by David Cloud.

In Proverbs 8, Christ the Word is personified as wisdom teaching men in all spheres of life (“Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?” Pr. 8:1). Wisdom stands in all places on earth (Pr. 8:2-3). Wisdom cries out to all men (Pr. 8:4). Wisdom cries out to the simple (Pr. 8:5). Wisdom is excellent and right (Pr. 8:6). It is pure truth (Pr. 8:7). It is all righteous (Pr. 8:8). It is of more value than all other things (Pr. 8:10-11). Wisdom is the source of witty inventions (Pr. 8:12). Wisdom is the source of right governing (Pr. 8:15-16). Wisdom is the source of right judgment (Pr. 8:16). Wisdom is true, durable riches (Pr. 8:18-19). Wisdom is the source of substance and true treasure (Pr. 8:21). Wisdom is eternal (Pr. 8:22). Wisdom was with the Creator (Pr. 8:23-30). Wisdom was the delight of God and rejoiced with God (Pr. 8:30). Wisdom delights in man (Pr. 8:31). Wisdom must be heeded; wisdom can be rejected (Pr. 8:33). Wisdom must be zealously pursued (Pr. 8:34). Wisdom is life and the favor of God (Pr. 8:35). To sin against wisdom is to wrong one’s own soul and to love death (Pr. 8:36).

David Cloud's Mastering The English Bible Series is a worthwhile investment, if you want to do some serious Bible studying - but you can also get the highlights of this series for free by watching his video series, A Bird's Eye View Of The Bible. It is a Bible survey, and digs in deep to give you an overview of the whole Bible. There is an accompanying book, but it is not necessary to buy it to benefit from this series. Other than the videos in David Cloud's Mastering The English Bible Series (which are paid courses), he also has many other videos and powerpoint presentations that you can view for free, as well as many solid Biblical Free Ebooks you can download and read. Just check out the sections on the Way of Life Literature website for Videos and also the Powerpoints section.

I am promoting this website to encourage my readers to find solid Bible-based study materials and use them to grow in your walks with the Lord, not to specifically say buy this or that book or video, etc. There are many solid resources on the Internet if you know where to look. If you are sincerely looking for answers on specific Biblical issues, leave a comment here and I will try my best to look for and pass on sound Biblical materials that answer what you are looking for.

Dig deeper into God's Word, get a Strong's Concordance (whether a physical copy or as part of a Bible program or app), get Matthew Henry's Whole Bible Commentary, and get some books by Spurgeon (including his sermons). That is a good place to start. Pray for the Lord to open up His Word to you, compare all that you read with the Bible, and grow in your discernment. Take and apply what the Lord teaches you each day, and the Holy Spirit will teach you more from His Word. Wisdom is available for the asking!

James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Psalm 119:18  Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

Audio Of Poems Presented In Church In 2022

Poems Presented In Church In 2021 to 2022, for about 10 months in the two main Sunday services, I presented poems in church as a ministry. Usually I shared an introduction to the poem (perhaps the story behind it if it was one of mine or if I knew of the events surrounding it), then I presented the verses behind it and a Biblical exhortation to draw closer to the Lord.  While we were recording the sermons preached each service, we did not think to actually record the poem presentations until about the last four months.
