Paved With Love

Paved With Love Song of Songs 3:7-10 Behold his bed, which is Solomon's; threescore valiant men are about it, of the valiant of Israel. They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night. King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon. He made the pillars thereof of silver, the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple, the midst thereof being paved with love, for the daughters of Jerusalem. The whole Song Of Solomon is a love song about fellowship between Solomon and his espoused (ie. engaged) bride. Solomon is a type or picture of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the espoused bride represents the believer who has placed their faith in Him. Every aspect of this song pictures our relationship and fellowship with the Lord from the moment of coming to Jesus for salvation, and ending with us eagerly awaiting His return to take His bride to the wedding feast and to the mansions He has prepared for her. "Abba, Father!" - Hymn For December 6

"Abba, Father!" "Abba, Father!" We approach Thee In our Savior's precious Name; We, Thy children, here assembled, Now Thy promised blessing claim; From our sins His blood hath washed us, 'Tis through Him our souls draw nigh, And Thy Spirit, too, hath taught us, "Abba, Father," thus to cry. Once as prodigals we wandered In our folly far from Thee, But Thy grace, o'er sin abounding, Rescued us from misery; Thou Thy prodigals hast pardoned, Kissed us with a Father's love, Spread the festive board, and called us, E'er to dwell with Thee above. Clothed in garments of salvation, At Thy table is our place, We rejoice, and Thou rejoicest, In the riches of Thy grace; "It is meet," we hear Thee saying, "We should merry and be glad, I have found My once lost children, Now they live who once were dead." "Abba, Father!" all adore Thee, All rejoice in Heav'n above, While in us they learn the wonders Of Thy wisdom, gr...

Have You Been With Jesus? - Devotional For Dec 6

Have You Been With Jesus? Someone once posed a great question, which I will ask here: If you were tried in a court of law for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Court is now in session... Acts 6:15  And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel. Stephen was a deacon of the church of Jerusalem. He was a man full of faith and wisdom (see Acts 6:3, 8). He was also a man full of the Holy Ghost. The word  full  means "controlled by; influenced by." Stephen was a man who was led by the Holy Spirit. He was a Christian who had spent some time with the Lord Jesus Christ and let that time transform his life and daily walk. When he was faced with a false trial to persecute him, and confronted with the very real possibility of his own martyrdom, his faith shone forth.  It was obvious to others that he had been with Jesus!  His face was beaming with a spiritual glow, the glow...

Everything's Changed - Poem For December 5

Everything's Changed I once was blind, but now I see - Oh praise the Lord who died for me. He opened my eyes to see my sin; I opened my heart to let Him in. I once was deaf, but now I hear - Immanuel – my God – came near. I heard of how Jesus died for me – His blood – from my sin, has made me free. I once was dumb, mouth closed by sin - Wicked words and thoughts dwelt within; My own heart, the source of all this woe – There’s nowhere else but Jesus to go. I once was lame, but now I’m healed – My evil deeds have been revealed. My heart’s been cleansed from every stain; My footsteps turned to walk right again. I once was blind, deaf, dumb, and lame, Lost, alone, heart shattered by pain; Then I trusted in the Saviour’s name – Since I believed everything’s changed. I once was blind, deaf, dumb, and lame, But praise the Lord that Jesus came! December 21/2010 Jerry Bouey Isaiah 29:18   And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see o...

But God... - Devotional For Dec 5

But God... I was reading another blog the other day, and I came across this quote in one of the comments that were posted: "But God" ... What a wonderful phrase ... what a wonderful truth. I do not recall the passage the poster was referring to (if he had actually stated it or not), but the phrase and his comment stuck with me. But God... So I started looking through the Bible to see some passages where this phrase (as well as "But the Lord") is used. Here are some that particularly blessed me: Genesis 39:20-21  And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.  But the LORD  was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. Acts 7:9-10  And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt:  but God  was with him, And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of P...

My Strength - Devotional For Dec 4

My Strength Where does your strength come from? Without Strength Romans 5:6, 8  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. No one in all of creation has the power or strength to keep all the Law of God; therefore all of mankind is guilty and condemned in the sight of God for breaking His laws. Yet Christ came to do what sinful man could not - fulfill the righteousness of the Law, so that all who trust in Him to save them will be credited with His righteousness. Romans 8:3  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: Jeremiah 23:6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. When we had no righteousness of our own (see...
