The Name Of Jesus - Devotional For Nov 6

The following chapter is from Franklin Logsdon's commentary on the book of Malachi, called Malachi Or Will A Man Rob God?  Chapter two is all about the names of God, especially the name of Jesus, and the importance of it to the people of God. While this chapter is primarily correcting the Israelites about their low esteem of God's name, I found it to be a real blessing to read as it focusses on various names of God in the Old Testament, and the name of Jesus in the New Testament - the name above every name! The Lord God's Name Disesteemed

Thou God Seest Me - Poem For Oct 26

My nephew and I read this chapter together in our Bible reading this morning. Thou God Seest Me Thou God seest me – You are the very God who sees The beginning and the end; Through all the trials I face in life, Jesus, You are my greatest Friend. Thou God seest me – You don’t just see all my situations, You truly know what’s in my heart; And despite all life’s complications, In wisdom, You know just where to start: Thou God seest me – You know my needs before I ask them; You strengthen me when I am weak; In my deepest times of sorrow, You provide the comfort that I seek. Thou God seest me – I need never fear for my future – You are already preparing the way; As a Shepherd, You are guiding, And my path shines bright as day. Thou God seest me – You loved me before I knew You; You died for my sins and took my shame; You became my Lord and Saviour, When, in faith, I called upon Your name. In my brightest or darkest situations, From the beginning to the end You see – You understand all I am...

Devotional And Poem For Oct 25

I posted these on Facebook yesterday, but was not at home to post them on this blog. Sorry about that. The first is a worthwhile read posted by Revivalist Paul Mershon on Facebook about the wonder of the Scriptures - our approach to the Word of God. The link for his post is: The Wonder Of It All The Hymn for today is based upon one of the compound names of the Lord in the Old Testament. The Lord Our Righteousness I once was a stranger to grace and to God, I knew not my danger, and felt not my load; Though friends spoke in rapture of Christ on the tree, JEHOVAH TSIDKENU was nothing to me. I oft read with pleasure, to soothe or engage, Isaiah's wild measure and John's simple page; But e'en when they pictured the blood-sprinkled tree, JEHOVAH TSIDKENU seemed nothing to me. Like tears from the daughters of Zion that roll, I wept when the waters went over His soul; Yet thought not that my sins had nailed to the tree, JEHOVAH TSIDKENU -- 'twas nothing to me. When free grace a...

The Lily Of The Valleys/Lessons In The Valley - Devotional And Poem For Oct 11

Lessons In The Valleys - The Lily Of The Valleys I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys. Song of Solomon 2:1 Jesus Christ here identifies Himself as the rarest and most beautiful of flowers, the rose of Sharon. Red in the Bible typically pictures sacrifice and shed blood. Jesus was our sacrifice and shed His blood for our sins on the cross of Calvary. This makes Him the most beautiful of Saviours. Yea, He is altogether lovely! (See Song of Solomon 5:16) Isaiah 33:17 Thine eyes shall see the King in His beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off. "'Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report,' all are to be found stored up in our Well-beloved. Whatever there may be of beauty in the material world, Jesus Christ possesses all that in the spiritual world, only in a tenfold multiplication. He is infinitely more beau...

The Lily Of The Valleys - Devotional For Sept 30

To continue the idea of Jesus being with us in all the valleys of life we go through, please read this encouraging study. There are so many lessons we can learn in the valleys, but this is probably the greatest one: The Lily Of The Valleys
