Walking On The Water With Jesus - Poem For Nov 28

Walking on the Water With Jesus Walking boldly on the water with Jesus, Knowing the waves are under His full control; Having sure footing in the midst of the storm, Oh, the joy and wonder that thrills my soul. Stepping out in faith is so amazing, Though this situation seems almost unreal; I’m the only one brave enough to stand on the waves, Imagine what all these fishermen must feel. But looking out upon the deep is very daunting - The wind is scattering the clouds across the sky; Slowly, I’m beginning to sink in the water; Faltering, “Lord, save me” is all I can cry. Immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught me, He held me up safely though the storm raged about; Soon we were in the ship and the waves stopped their roaring; He said, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?” Whether in the ship or out upon the water, The Master of the waves controls the windswept sea. It’s not the storm or calm without the ship that matters - But the peace within my heart t...

Day By Day - Hymn For Nov 23

This is one of my favourite hymns. It because precious to me in the months leading up to my Mom going home to be with the Lord. I don't think I have been in that many church services where it was sung, but last night was one of them. It is such a comforting and faith-strengthening hymn. Day By Day (Words: Karolina W. Sandell-Berg; Music: Oskar Ahnfelt.) Day by day, and with each passing moment, Strength I find, to meet my trials here; Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment, I’ve no cause for worry or for fear. He Whose heart is kind beyond all measure Gives unto each day what He deems best— Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure, Mingling toil with peace and rest. Every day, the Lord Himself is near me With a special mercy for each hour; All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me, He Whose Name is Counselor and Power; The protection of His child and treasure Is a charge that on Himself He laid; “As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,” This the pledge to me He made. Hel...

Leave It There - Hymn For Oct 6

Leave It There (Words & Music: Charles A. Tindley) If the world from you withhold of its silver and its gold, And you have to get along with meager fare, Just remember, in His Word, how He feeds the little bird; Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. Chorus: Leave it there, leave it there, Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. If your body suffers pain and your health you can’t regain, And your soul is almost sinking in despair, Jesus knows the pain you feel, He can save and He can heal; Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. When your enemies assail and your heart begins to fail, Don’t forget that God in Heaven answers prayer; He will make a way for you and will lead you safely through. Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there. When your youthful days are gone and old age is stealing on, And your body bends beneath the weight of care; H...

Love Broke Through - Song For Oct 5

We all face the storms of life - sometimes are battered pretty fiercely. It is hard enough when it a personal storm we are going through, but what happens when you have loved ones that are in situations beyond your control? Then it is time to seek the Lord in prayer until He answers, and we see His love break through our storms. Spurgeon once said, "Prayer moves the arm that moves the world." Love Broke Through I left my shelter, wandered out into harm; My faith grew so weak in the path of the storm. A trial of my choosing; no one else to blame; But His love broke through when I called on His name. Chorus: Love broke through the clouds, Love scattered the rain; God’s love brought healing in the midst of my pain. When the wind and the waves were all I could view, Jesus calmed the storm, and His love broke through. The wind rose so sudden, the thunder now roared; I was all but sinking; my faith came unmoored. A trial to test me – how could I survive? Love broke through and show...

For A Season - Poem and Devotional for Sept 24

For A Season For a season, there will be troubles, For the needed time, then they will go. God has a purpose for every trial; They are only for a season, you know. Overwhelmed with sudden loss and anguish, With a heavy heart, broken in despair. Look up to Jesus for His comfort - Even for this season, He will be there. For a season, sufferings are our portion, But, then, in a moment, they will pass away. And after the season of our sorrows, Heaven's glory will shine bright as day. February 24th, 2002 Jerry Bouey (Dedicated to the Lockharts) Romans 8:18 and 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season , if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations. 1 Peter 1:6 The Bible teaches that we will have manifold (many kinds of) trials. That we are to rejoice in them. That there is a need for us to go through them, that the Lord has a purpose for every trial He allows in our lives. There is also a bright ray of hope shining through that verse, wh...
