My Strength - Devotional For Dec 4

My Strength Where does your strength come from? Without Strength Romans 5:6, 8  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. No one in all of creation has the power or strength to keep all the Law of God; therefore all of mankind is guilty and condemned in the sight of God for breaking His laws. Yet Christ came to do what sinful man could not - fulfill the righteousness of the Law, so that all who trust in Him to save them will be credited with His righteousness. Romans 8:3  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: Jeremiah 23:6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. When we had no righteousness of our own (see...

Be Strong And Of A Good Courage - Poem For December 4

Be Strong And Of A Good Courage “Be strong and of a good courage,”  My child, “Fear not, nor be afraid,”  saith the Lord. May your life be filled to the brim with His promises, Overflowing with hope and wisdom gleaned from God’s Word. Jesus is your Shepherd who will lead and guide you; He will walk beside you every step of the way; He will lift you up and carry you there in His arms, Bring you back close beside Him whenever you stray. There is so much the Lord wants to do for you, So much your Heavenly Father has in store; Just when you think that you can’t be more blessed, God surprises your life with even more. In His Word, you have His promise to be with you, Through all the sunny days, and even the bad. He will work out all things together for your good; There are so many reasons to  “rejoice and be glad.” As a pilgrim and a stranger on this journey, May all of your days be filled with Heaven’s best. As you look back over your life in reflection, May you find t...

Open My Eyes That I May See - Hymn For Dec 1

Open My Eyes That I May See (Hymn by Clara H. Scott) 1 Open my eyes that I may see Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me; Place in my hands the wonderful key That shall unclasp and set me free. Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready, my God, Thy will to see; Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine! 2 Open my ears that I may hear Voice of truth Thou sendest clear, And while the wave notes fall on my ear, Ev’rything false will disappear. Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready, my God, Thy will to see. Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine! 3 Open my mouth and let me bear Gladly the warm truth ev’rywhere. Open my heart and let me prepare Love with Thy children thus to share. Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready, my God, Thy will to see. Open my mouth, illumine me, Spirit divine! 4 Open my mind that I may read More of Thy love in word and deed. What shall I fear while yet Thou dost lead? Only for light from Thee I plead. Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready, my God, Thy will to see. Open my...

A One-Time Dedication Or Dying Daily? - Devotional For Dec 1

A One-Time Dedication Or Dying Daily? Romans 12:1-2   I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. I remember as a younger believer being exhorted to obey Romans 12:1 - and it was taught as a one-time act of dedication. You know, first you get saved, and then somewhere down the road you give yourself wholly to the Lord. These are the two main decisions that you need to make spiritually. (Obviously salvation is THE most important decision.) But I was just thinking about that mentality - it almost brings a dangerous complacency. "Yeah, I gave my all on the altar 10 years ago (though I've since taken back some areas...)." Rather, I think rather the exhortation is to give ourselves  daily , t...

In The Presence Of The Lord - Poem For Nov 30

To hear this poem presented in church with an introduction and devotional challenge, please click on the title of this poem: In The Presence Of The Lord In the presence of the Lord Is where I long to be. Living each moment in His tender care, My God communing with me. Teaching me wonders from His law, Filling my life with His love, Finding delight in serving Him, Jehovah who reigns above. Living each day before Christ, Fearfully aware of each move that I make. Did I glorify God, were my motives pure, Is upholding His Truth the risk that I take? Is my life a living and holy sacrifice, Or has my focus faded again? I won’t be conformed to this world, I pray my Father restores me to Him. I want to obey when I hear my Lord speak, As His Spirit and His Word command me. But sometimes, inside, I feel so weak, Still Jesus says, “Take up your cross and follow Me.” Sometimes this life can seem so hard, It’s only with eyes of faith that I can see. I know it’s in the presence of the Lord, That...

Be Ye Transformed - Devotional For Nov 30

Sorry I did not post anything yesterday. There was a bit of sickness going through my household. Be Ye Transformed (Romans 12:2) Romans 12:2 And be not  conformed  to this world: but be ye  transformed  by the  renewing  of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Conformed  - the word is Strong's #4964 and means "to fashion alike, i.e. conform to the same pattern". This is referring to the external condition or outward appearance of something. We are not to be fashioned together according to the likeness of this world, according to the course or philosophy of this present age. 1 Peter 1:14-15 As obedient children, not  fashioning yourselves according to  the former lusts in your ignorance: But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Fashions and philosophies change, but God's Word never does! Let's not imitate the things of the world (the fads, the fas...

God Is Faithful - Devotional For Nov 28

God Is Faithful 1 Corinthians 1:9  God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Faithful  means "true to one's word. Constant; not fickle." It carries the idea of being trustworthy, dependable, reliable. Over and over in the Scriptures, God and His Word are both declared to be faithful. There are some specific things that God is declared to be faithful about: 1) Faithful to give us a way out of the temptations we face in life. 1 Corinthians 10:13  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 2) Faithful to forgive us when we repent and confess our sins to Him. 1 John 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 3) Faithful to give us new mercies ever...
