"Abba, Father!" - Hymn For December 6

"Abba, Father!" "Abba, Father!" We approach Thee In our Savior's precious Name; We, Thy children, here assembled, Now Thy promised blessing claim; From our sins His blood hath washed us, 'Tis through Him our souls draw nigh, And Thy Spirit, too, hath taught us, "Abba, Father," thus to cry. Once as prodigals we wandered In our folly far from Thee, But Thy grace, o'er sin abounding, Rescued us from misery; Thou Thy prodigals hast pardoned, Kissed us with a Father's love, Spread the festive board, and called us, E'er to dwell with Thee above. Clothed in garments of salvation, At Thy table is our place, We rejoice, and Thou rejoicest, In the riches of Thy grace; "It is meet," we hear Thee saying, "We should merry and be glad, I have found My once lost children, Now they live who once were dead." "Abba, Father!" all adore Thee, All rejoice in Heav'n above, While in us they learn the wonders Of Thy wisdom, gr

Have You Been With Jesus? - Devotional For Dec 6

Have You Been With Jesus? Someone once posed a great question, which I will ask here: If you were tried in a court of law for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Court is now in session... Acts 6:15  And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel. Stephen was a deacon of the church of Jerusalem. He was a man full of faith and wisdom (see Acts 6:3, 8). He was also a man full of the Holy Ghost. The word  full  means "controlled by; influenced by." Stephen was a man who was led by the Holy Spirit. He was a Christian who had spent some time with the Lord Jesus Christ and let that time transform his life and daily walk. When he was faced with a false trial to persecute him, and confronted with the very real possibility of his own martyrdom, his faith shone forth.  It was obvious to others that he had been with Jesus!  His face was beaming with a spiritual glow, the glow of a soul on fire

Everything's Changed - Poem For December 5

Everything's Changed I once was blind, but now I see - Oh praise the Lord who died for me. He opened my eyes to see my sin; I opened my heart to let Him in. I once was deaf, but now I hear - Immanuel – my God – came near. I heard of how Jesus died for me – His blood – from my sin, has made me free. I once was dumb, mouth closed by sin - Wicked words and thoughts dwelt within; My own heart, the source of all this woe – There’s nowhere else but Jesus to go. I once was lame, but now I’m healed – My evil deeds have been revealed. My heart’s been cleansed from every stain; My footsteps turned to walk right again. I once was blind, deaf, dumb, and lame, Lost, alone, heart shattered by pain; Then I trusted in the Saviour’s name – Since I believed everything’s changed. I once was blind, deaf, dumb, and lame, But praise the Lord that Jesus came! December 21/2010 Jerry Bouey Isaiah 29:18   And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of

But God... - Devotional For Dec 5

But God... I was reading another blog the other day, and I came across this quote in one of the comments that were posted: "But God" ... What a wonderful phrase ... what a wonderful truth. I do not recall the passage the poster was referring to (if he had actually stated it or not), but the phrase and his comment stuck with me. But God... So I started looking through the Bible to see some passages where this phrase (as well as "But the Lord") is used. Here are some that particularly blessed me: Genesis 39:20-21  And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.  But the LORD  was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison. Acts 7:9-10  And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt:  but God  was with him, And delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favour and wisdom in the sight of Pharaoh

My Strength - Devotional For Dec 4

My Strength Where does your strength come from? Without Strength Romans 5:6, 8  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. No one in all of creation has the power or strength to keep all the Law of God; therefore all of mankind is guilty and condemned in the sight of God for breaking His laws. Yet Christ came to do what sinful man could not - fulfill the righteousness of the Law, so that all who trust in Him to save them will be credited with His righteousness. Romans 8:3  For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: Jeremiah 23:6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. When we had no righteousness of our own (see Isaiah 64:6), Jesu

Be Strong And Of A Good Courage - Poem For December 4

Be Strong And Of A Good Courage “Be strong and of a good courage,”  My child, “Fear not, nor be afraid,”  saith the Lord. May your life be filled to the brim with His promises, Overflowing with hope and wisdom gleaned from God’s Word. Jesus is your Shepherd who will lead and guide you; He will walk beside you every step of the way; He will lift you up and carry you there in His arms, Bring you back close beside Him whenever you stray. There is so much the Lord wants to do for you, So much your Heavenly Father has in store; Just when you think that you can’t be more blessed, God surprises your life with even more. In His Word, you have His promise to be with you, Through all the sunny days, and even the bad. He will work out all things together for your good; There are so many reasons to  “rejoice and be glad.” As a pilgrim and a stranger on this journey, May all of your days be filled with Heaven’s best. As you look back over your life in reflection, May you find that you have been t

Open My Eyes That I May See - Hymn For Dec 1

Open My Eyes That I May See (Hymn by Clara H. Scott) 1 Open my eyes that I may see Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me; Place in my hands the wonderful key That shall unclasp and set me free. Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready, my God, Thy will to see; Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine! 2 Open my ears that I may hear Voice of truth Thou sendest clear, And while the wave notes fall on my ear, Ev’rything false will disappear. Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready, my God, Thy will to see. Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine! 3 Open my mouth and let me bear Gladly the warm truth ev’rywhere. Open my heart and let me prepare Love with Thy children thus to share. Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready, my God, Thy will to see. Open my mouth, illumine me, Spirit divine! 4 Open my mind that I may read More of Thy love in word and deed. What shall I fear while yet Thou dost lead? Only for light from Thee I plead. Silently now I wait for Thee, Ready, my God, Thy will to see. Open my min
